Billings, MT– Grassroots organizers from across Montana’s Eastern District hosted a public town hall in Billings last week where residents voiced their concerns about the Trump administration’s harmful policies, ranging from tariffs and the high cost of living to Medicaid cuts and beyond. Members of Montana’s Congressional delegation, Senator Steve Daines, Senator Tim Sheehy, and Congressman Troy Downing, were all invited to attend during their recess break, but refused to show up.

Around one hundred Montanans attended the public town hall at the Billings Hotel and Convention Center, including Eastern District stakeholders Custer County Democrats Chair Hannah Nash, Former Director of the Montana American Indian Caucus Lance Fourstar, Big Sky 55+ Executive Director Trent Bolger, Montana Farmers Union, Cattlemen’s Beef Board farmer and rancher Ben Peterson, and Senate Minority Leader Pat Flowers from Bozeman.

“While Montana’s Congressional delegation spent their recess break hiding from their constituents, leaders in the Eastern District showed up and actually listened to folks,” said Interim Executive Director of the Montana Democratic Party, Justin Ailport. “Once again, Montana’s all-Republican delegation shows they don’t give a crap about us. All they want is Trump’s harmful and dangerous agenda, and they are too cowardly to meet with voters.”
