Helena, MT – Montana Democratic Party Interim Executive Director Justin Ailport appeared on KFYR this week, criticizing Senator Daines for supporting President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” and calling out Daines for lying to Montanans about the harmful impacts of slashing Medicaid funding.
Ailport reminded viewers that Medicaid accounts for a substantial share of rural hospital revenues in Montana and that the proposed cuts would push community hospitals and clinics into crisis, or even shut them down.
“He knows with the cuts to Medicaid, many of these hospitals won’t be able to operate,” said Ailport about Daines on KFYR. “They’ll be operating at a loss just to be able to stay open. I don’t think you care about rural Montana when you say that.”
This week, we learned the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office announced Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” could spike the deficit by $2.4 trillion while simultaneously leaving 10.9 million Americans uninsured within the next decade.
“There goes Senator Daines again, talking out of two sides of his mouth, pretending he cares about rural Montana and the national deficit when all he really wants to do is provide tax breaks for the ultrawealthy,” added Ailport. “This bill is designed to place the tax burden on the backs of the tax-strapped working class, so the fat cats can prosper while Montanans lose their health coverage.”
