Helena, MT– In response to House Republicans passing Trump’s disastrous budget bill, Justin Ailport, Interim Executive Director of the Montana Democratic Party, released the following statement:
“Just hours ago, House Republicans, including Congressman Troy Downing and Congressman Ryan Zinke, delivered a devastating blow to their constituents to appease Donald Trump and his billionaire backers. On Trump’s orders, House Republicans launched a toxic attack on Montanans to rip away quality, affordable health care and take food off of many tables — all to give tax handouts to the top 1%.
Here’s the reality: The GOP’s catastrophic ‘billionaire first’ budget will harm Montana’s economy, cost hardworking Montanans their jobs, and leave working families footing the bill for America’s wealthiest. It’s as clear as day, Congressman Downing and Congressman Zinke are not working for the people of Montana– they’re working for Donald Trump and his billionaire buddies.”
