The Montana Democratic Party released the following statement on the second anniversary of the leak of the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization:

“Montanans have made themselves clear: They support reproductive freedom for women and they don’t want politicians getting between them and their health care,” said Executive Director of the Montana Democratic Party, Sheila Hogan. “While Republican leaders across the state are hell-bent on restricting abortion access at all costs, Democrats are working every day to protect the reproductive rights and individual freedoms of Montanans. We won’t back down an inch in this fight or let politicians impose their extreme and out-of-touch views on our state.”

There are some standouts among the MTGOP who believe in restricting women’s freedom and right to privacy, including:

Governor Greg Gianforte touts his record of being one of the state’s biggest champions of taking away freedoms from women and signed a slate of bills limiting access to reproductive health care last year, including an abortion ban.

Tim Sheehy continues to attack Montanans’ reproductive freedoms. Sheehy supports a national abortion ban, he has called abortion “murder,” he refused to protect access to IVF treatment, and he has ignored repeated questions about whether or not he would vote to reinstate Roe v. Wade

Ryan Zinke supports letting the government ban abortion in cases of rape and incest and voted for an abortion ban in Congress. As a Montana state legislator, he voted for a bill stating there was no right to an abortion in the Montana Constitution.

Attorney General Austin Knudsen signed onto a letter with 18 other GOP attorneys general last summer advocating for access to abortion records for criminal investigations of women and girls who seek reproductive health care outside of Montana.

Matt Rosendale said he believes in protecting “the sanctity of life” in “all circumstances, no exceptions.” He repeatedly cosponsored legislation that is widely considered a “complete or nearly complete ban on abortion.”

And…this guy… Kyle Austin, a Republican candidate running for Montana’s second congressional district made his position clear at the Eastern district congressional candidates debate in Havre last night:

“What I’d like to see is offering abortion for those who need it, but create a registry so we can track and prevent people using it as a form of birth control, and then criminalize them if they’re abusing it. That way it’s a win-win for both situations.”

We can’t make this stuff up. Watch the clip HERE.
