Helena, MT – Ahead of Donald Trump’s State of the Union Address, Montana Democratic Party Executive Director Emily Marburger released the following statement:

“Tonight, Donald Trump will desperately try to pull the wool over Montanans’ eyes and paper over a year’s worth of betrayal and disastrous policies. But Montanans won’t fall for it. Trump promised to lower costs on ‘Day One,’ But prices are skyrocketing. Trump promised to usher in an economic ‘golden age’ for Montanans, but our job market is dismal, jobs are drying up, and Montana’s economy is in the gutter. Trump promised a “golden age’ – instead, we have the weakest economic growth in years and companies are announcing layoffs every day. As Trump makes more promises he does not plan to keep while pushing an agenda that is raising costs for working families, Democrats will be fighting to lower Montanans’ costs, create jobs, and protect health care.”
