Rosendale Votes Against Food Security for Veterans

Helena, MT –  Rep. Matt Rosendale, Republican candidate for Montana’s Eastern District, voted no on the bipartisan Food Security for All Veterans Act, which passed out of the house despite his best efforts. The bill would establish an Office of Food Security at the Department of Veterans Affairs, and Rosendale joined only 49 of his Republican colleagues in voting no.

Working-age veterans are at a greater risk (7.4%) of experiencing food insecurity, compared to the broader population. For disabled veterans, this number rises to 22.5%. Food insecurity is independently associated with arange of chronic and acute health outcomes and increased healthcare costs.

“Rosendale’s callous voting record is not only an embarrassment to Montana. He’s doing harm to veterans and their families,” says Sheila Hogan, executive director of the Montana Democratic Party. “Who in the world is Rosendale “representing” in Washington– because it’s certainly not Montanans.”
