Out-of-Stater Navigator: Questions Mount Around Sheehy’s Lies

Tim Sheehy’s lies only created more questions this week. New documents revealed that a park visitor called in the accidental gun discharge in Logan Pass that Sheehy claims never happened, adding to the discrepancies in Sheehy’s retelling of his gunshot wound.

But that was not his only inconsistency – Sheehy also lied about his upbringing and his policy position on public lands. This week, reporting revealed that Sheehy has repeatedly claimed he grew up in “rural” Minnesota, but, in reality, his “home turf is quintessential Minnesota suburbia—a place where pavement dominates pasture.”

He also lied about his support for the transfer of public lands, updating his website to claim, “Tim opposes a federal transfer of our public lands,” despite reported audio where he called for federal land transfer, saying he wants public lands to “get turned over to state agencies, or even counties.”

Tonight, Sheehy will appear at the Yellowstone County Lincoln-Reagan dinner, and it is crucial that he is asked about his string of lies – Montanans need to know the truth about Sheehy’s story and beliefs.

QUESTIONS SHEEHY MUST ANSWER TONIGHT

After new reporting raised more questions about the lies Sheehy has told around his gunshot wound, here are the three questions Sheehy must answer at the Yellowstone County Lincoln-Reagan dinner tonight, his next scheduled appearance:

  1. Will you immediately release your Kalispell medical records so Montanans know the nature of your injuries treated at the Kalispell hospital that day?

  2. Why did you repeatedly tell Montanans you grew up in “rural” Minnesota when you actually grew up three miles from a Trader Joe’s and 15 minutes from Minneapolis?

  3. Will you finally grant an interview with a Montana news outlet to answer questions about the many questions raised about your background?

SHEEHY REPEATEDLY LIED ABOUT GROWING UP IN “RURAL” MINNESOTA

New reporting from the Daily Beast revealed that Tim Sheehy has repeatedly lied about growing up in “rural” Minnesota on the campaign trail – when he actually grew up in a multimillion-dollar lakehouse in Shoreview, 15 minutes from Minneapolis and his elite private school in the heart of St. Paul.

The Daily Beast reported that “Sheehy has described his ‘rural’ childhood on multiple occasions—at a fundraiser for Montana rodeo, in multiple podcast and radio hits, as well as in an interview with Western Ag Reporter.” But Sheehy’s upbringing is anything but what Montanans would consider rural: His “home turf is quintessential Minnesota suburbia—a place where pavement dominates pasture.”

THE ACCIDENTAL PARKING LOT GUNSHOT SHEEHY CLAIMS NEVER HAPPENED WAS REPORTED BY A PARK VISITOR

Breaking reporting from the Washington Post looks at newly-released documents from the National Park Service, which contradict Tim Sheehy’s story that he lied about accidentally shooting himself in the arm in Glacier National Park.

Documents revealed that a park visitor called in the accidental gun discharge in Logan Pass that Sheehy claims never happened. Washington Post reports: “That differs from Sheehy’s current account, that law enforcement was first contacted by personnel at a hospital that treated him for wounds that he now says he received from falling during a hike.”

SHEEHY LIES ABOUT PUBLIC LANDS POSITION

Transplant Tim Sheehy was torched across the state after he called fortransferring public lands to states and counties. Now, he’s once again lying to Montanans about who he is and what he believes.

  • LIE: Tim Sheehy’s website now reads that “Tim opposes a federal transfer of our public lands.”

  • FACT: Tim Sheehy explicitly called for public lands to “get turned over to state agencies, or even counties.”

Calling to transfer public lands is the “third rail” of Montana policy positions – but Transplant Tim Sheehy clearly didn’t get the memo after his recent move to the state. Transferring public lands to “state agencies, or even counties” like Sheehy advocates for would make it easier to sell off Montana’s public lands to out-of-state multimillionaires like him.
