Sheehy’s records would reveal the truth behind his gunshot wound

Helena, MT – One month after the Washington Post first reported Tim Sheehy’s inconsistent accounts of how he received his gunshot woundSheehy still refuses to release the hospital medical records from that day that would reveal the truth of what happened.

Sheehy said repeatedly on the campaign trail that he had a bullet in his arm from his service in Afghanistan. But records show that Sheehy accidentally shot himself in his arm in Glacier National Park in 2015. According to those records, a park ranger was dispatched to the parking lot after a park visitor reported the gunshot, and then met Sheehy at the hospital where Sheehy explained that the gun fired when it fell out of his vehicle.

Now, Sheehy claims he lied to the ranger about being shot in the Park to cover for a friendly fire incident he says happened in Afghanistan, and resulted in a gunshot wound in his arm. At the time of the reporting, Sheehy told the Washington Post he “did not provide medical records from the 2015 hospital visit, saying he had requested them.”

It has now been 31 days, and Sheehy has still refused to provide those medical records, preventing Montanans from knowing the nature of his injuries treated at the Kalispell hospital.

Montanans are owed truth and transparency – Sheehy must release his medical records.
