Helena, MT – Dysfunction is at the helm of the Montana GOP with two Republican central committees losing longtime leadership.

In Missoula, the entire Republican central committee board resigned en masse, refusing to say why or what had caused them to step down.

And 45 miles away in  Ravalli County, Republican Central Committee members expelled longtime chair Terry Nelson, who served for 15 years, and replaced him with right-wing hardliner Ron Stoltz.

State Sen. Theresa Manzella, R-Stevensville, led the coup against the more moderate Republicans, highlighting her and other extremists’ “pro-life-without-exception stance.” This comes after fighting within their own party caused the Ravalli County Republicans to be kicked out of the Ravalli County Fair in August.

“How can Montanans reasonably expect Republicans to govern the state if they can’t even govern themselves?” asked Sheila Hogan, executive director of the Montana Democratic Party.
