Helena, MT – Today, the Montana Democratic Party Executive Board released the following statement addressing the erasure of signage at the Little Bighorn Battlefield by President Trump:
“The Montana Democratic Party adamantly opposes the erasure of exhibit language mentioning the United States breaking promises to Indigenous People. MDP opposes the erasure of Indigenous cultural identities and languages in the United States run boarding schools for Native American children. The effects of intergenerational trauma are apparent in post-colonialism symptoms today from this attempted erasure. Montana Indigenous People have survived this erasure and disregarding this attempt to do so will undermine future generations who may repeat these atrocities by not learning the truth.”
