MDP Statement on Supreme Court Review of Same-Sex Marriage Rights

Helena, MT– The Montana Democratic Party Interim Executive Director, Justin Ailport, released the following statement regarding the United States Supreme Court's consideration of overturning same-sex marriage. 

“This is not just another flagrant attack on our LGBTQ+ friends, neighbors, and members of our communities– this is a direct threat to the freedoms of every American. Make no mistake: Donald Trump and Republicans, from the Montana Legislature to Congress, are dead set on stripping away the rights and freedoms of anyone who refuses to conform to their oppressive far-right agenda. That includes members of the LGBTQ+ community, women, minorities, the sick, and the poor. 

When they come for one of us, they come for all of us.

Now's the time we need to hear from Montana’s congressional delegation. Are they in favor of rolling back the rights and freedoms of Montana’s LGBTQ+ community? The silence we’ll surely receive is answer enough.”
