Gianforte Gives More Tax Cuts to His Buddies at the Top

Helena—This week, Governor Greg Gianforte signed House Bill 337 into law, providing yet another income tax break for the wealthy while draining state revenue used to fund necessary public services.

Gianforte has shown us time and time again that he prioritizes the wealthy over working Montanans and their families. Cutting income taxes for the rich means less money for public services that Montanans rely on including funding for public education, infrastructure, and public safety.

“It’s ironic to hear Gianforte celebrate what he’s calling the biggest tax break in Montana’s history when he’s responsible for the largest tax increase on homeowners,” said Interim Executive Director for the Montana Democratic Party Justin Ailport. “Make no mistake– Gianforte's primary goal is to serve his rich buddies. He did it when he gave property tax breaks to corporations and businesses, placing the tax burden on regular Montanans and pricing them out of their own homes. Now he’s giving the wealthy a tax break and taking money away from funding for public services that benefit all Montanans. This guy is truly shameless.”
