Pulitzer-prize winning fact-checker confirms Rehberg’s vote to pay himself during shutdown

Millionaire congressman voted against plan to prevent shutdown pay, then claimed he didn’t

Montana Democratic Party responds to revelation that Rehberg hasn't read Ryan Budget

Helena, MT -- Montana Democratic Party spokesman Chris Saeger released this statement today in response to Congressman Dennis Rehberg's admission that he has not read the Rep. Paul Ryan's budget:

"Congressman Rehberg is an appropriations subcommittee chairman who says he supports a budget plan, while admitting he hasn't even read it--four days after it was introduced. The controversial budget plan raises the debt and ends Medicare as we know it. Rehberg's blind support for it is irresponsible and lazy, and Montanans deserve better in Congress."

Congressman Rehberg expressed support on Tuesday for the Ryan budget.

Rehberg supports plan to end Medicare, increase federal debt

Congressman Rehberg follows Congressional extremists to take Montana down the Path to Poverty

Helena, MT -- Millionaire Congressman Dennis Rehberg is trying to tap dance around his support for an unpopular GOP budget plan that ends Medicare as we know it and increases the federal debt, but he's not fooling ordinary Montanans.

“Congressman Rehberg voted just last week to spend $300 million on a experimental school voucher program in Washington, D.C., putting our nation another $300 million in debt," said Ted Dick, executive director of the Montana Democratic Party.  "Now Congressman Rehberg wants to eliminate Medicare altogether, and that speaks volumes to where his priorities are. His irresponsible plan will do nothing to fix the federal deficit. This legislation might feel good to Congressman Rehberg and his extremist friends, but it would hurt Montana.”

In the short run, Rehberg's plan increases the cost of prescription drugs and ends access to preventative care for seniors. Altogether, the Rehberg plan will end Medicare for 20 million Americans starting in 2022.

Rehberg votes to keep paying himself during government shutdown

Montana's millionaire Congressman willing to take a government check for not working

Helena, MT --Montana's millionaire Congressman Dennis Rehberg today voted against a measure that would stop pay for members of Congress in the event of a government shutdown.

Montana Democratic Party Executive Director Ted Dick released this statement in response to Rehberg's vote:

"Congressman Rehberg should listen to Montanans and follow Jon Tester's lead -- no Congressman should receive government pay if they want to shut down the government. Montana's millionaire Congressman could afford to go a few weeks without pay, but apparently he's willing to take a federal check even when he's not on the job."
