Rehberg Cover-Up Tour Update: Yellowstone County

Rehberg Still Won't Come Clean About Medicare, Social Security, Impacts of His Vote to Let America Default

Helena, MT -- Congressman Dennis Rehberg will continue his Montana cover-up tour today at a political fundraiser in Billings, but don't expect him to mention Medicare and Social Security.

Outside the fundraiser, you’ll find Montana seniors, veterans and families who would have been devastated by Congressman Rehberg’s recent vote to let America default.

In Yellowstone County:

  • $446,360,000 in Social Security Checks would have not been sent,
  • $200,722,000 in Medicare payments would not have gone out the door,
  • $151,381,000 in wages for our troops and other federal workers would have been lost
  • [all figures from KXLF, 7/21/11].

“Congressman Rehberg is still running away from his decision to let America default, turning his back on seniors and veterans in order to protect tax loopholes for millionaires,” said Ted Dick, Executive Director of the Montana Democratic Party.  “But Congressman Rehberg can't hide from the impacts of his irresponsible decision from Montanans who would lose their Medicare and Social Security if he had his way.”
