Democratic Leaders Praise Health Bill Passage

Statements of Party Chairman Jim Elliott; Sen. Kim Gillan (D-Billings); Sen. Dave Wanzenried (D-Missoula); Speaker of the Montana House, Rep. Bob Bergren (D-Havre); Rep. Jon Sesso (D-Butte) and Rep. Kendall Van Dyk (D-Billings) on Approval of the Senate Finance Committee Health Care Reform Bill

Helena, MT- Montana Democratic Party Chairman Jim Elliott; Sen. Kim Gillan (D-Billings); Sen. Dave Wanzenried (D-Missoula); Speaker of the Montana House, Rep. Bob Bergren (D-Havre); Rep. Jon Sesso (D-Butte) and Rep. Kendall Van Dyk (D-Billings) released the following statements today on the approval of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee’s health care reform bill.
 
Statement from Chairman Jim Elliott:

"Max helped move Montana and the nation in the right direction today by passing a bi-partisan health care bill,” said Montana Democratic Party Chairman Jim Elliott.  “His bill is a framework for reform that will keep health care costs from continuing to skyrocket and will guarantee that no Montanan will be denied health care insurance for any reason.”

Statement from Speaker of the Montana House, Rep. Bob Bergren (D-Havre):

“Thanks to Max’s leadership in the Senate Finance Committee, we’ve taken another step toward meaningful health care reform for Montanans,” said Rep. Bob Bergren (D-Havre).
 
Statement from Sen. Kim Gillan (D-Billings):

"This bill is balanced and based on common sense,” said Sen. Kim Gillan.  “It helps get cost under control while improving quality.  I applaud Max's leadership in bringing people together to put our state first, which is why this bill will help every person who calls Montana home."
 
Statement from Sen. Dave Wanzenried (D-Missoula):

"This bill is good for Montana,” said Sen. Dave Wanzenried (D-Missoula). “Max is working tirelessly to move a bill though the Senate that will improve the quality of health care and lower health care costs."

“Getting a health reform bill out of the Finance Committee is a big step forward,” said Rep. Jon Sesso (D-Butte). “Now, we’ll get to see how Max’s piece fits with the other bills in play. The road gets tougher from here, and I remain hopeful that the final legislation passed by Congress will produce meaningful, positive changes for Montanans.”
