Stapleton trying to buy his way into SOS office
HELENA -- Taking a cue from his fellow Republicans, Corey Stapleton just dumped $100,000 into his failing campaign for Secretary of State.
This isn’t the first time Stapleton has tried to buy his way into office. He has unsuccessfully ran for statewide office twice and dumped his personal fortune into the race both times.
- In his 2012 primary bid for Governor he spent at least $30,000 of his own cash.
- In 2014 he ran (in the primary) for the U.S. Senate and U.S. House: Spending approximately $200,000.
“It’s time for Corey Stapleton to recognize buying his way into office hasn’t worked before and it won’t work now in his bid for Secretary of State,” said Nancy Keenan, executive director of the Montana Democratic Party. “Monica Lindeen has a proven record of working hard on behalf of all Montana voters. As Secretary of State, she’ll make sure Montanans have a say in who we elect, not just those individuals with the money to buy their way into office, because Montana is not for sale.”
