RELEASE: Democrats lead charge to create jobs, call on Republicans to responsibly invest in infrastructure

HELENA – Montana Democrats are calling on Republican leadership in the Montana Legislature to join them in creating jobs, strengthening the state’s economy and responsibly investing in infrastructure this session.

In 2015, a minority of Republicans killed Governor Steve Bullock’s responsible infrastructure plan in the waning days of the session and now it’s 2017 and Montana’s roads are still in need of repair, sewer systems still need upgrades and school roofs still need replacing.

“It is imperative that Speaker Knudsen and President Sales step up and make job-creating investments in Montana’s roads, bridges, schools, and communities,” said Nancy Keenan, executive director of the Montana Democratic Party. “It’s time for them to get on board or get out of the way because the future of our state is more important than their obstructionist tactics of the past.”
