MT GOP, Stapleton out of touch with Montana voters
HELENA -- This week absentee ballots will be in the mail to Montana voters and it’s important to remember the Montana GOP and its Secretary of State candidate Corey Stapleton have no interest in serving the people of Montana by protecting our voting rights.
Remember it is the Montana GOP:
- That tried to kill same-day voter registration in Montana
- That tried to get the Libertarian Secretary of State candidate removed from the ballot
- That tried to require state-issued photo IDs in order to vote, which makes it harder for senior citizens, young people and others to participate.
Meanwhile, Corey Stapleton won’t talk about open and transparent elections being his top priority if elected.
What does he choose to talk about? Information technology:
"I am reminded o how important it is to balance our desire for larger voter participation with assuring the integrity of our voting process isn’t compromised by expediency or carelessness. ” – Stapleton in the Billings Gazette
Nevermind Montana ranks in the top tier of states when it comes to secure elections and overall performance.
“Corey Stapleton is clueless about the job of the Montana Secretary of State,” said Nancy Keenan, executive director of the Montana Democratic Party. “The number one job of our Secretary of State is to ensure fair, open and transparent elections and Cory Stapleton and the Montana GOP have demonstrated over and over again that they want to make it harder for Montanans to vote.”
