Montana Republicans Vote Against Special Education Funding, AGAIN
HELENA -- Like Groundhog Day, once again Republican legislators voted down an increase in funding for special education programs in public schools.
"Montana Republicans continue to block opportunities for all students in our public schools," said Nancy Keenan, Executive Director of the Montana Democratic Party. "Special education funding ensures all Montana kids have a chance to succeed. And Montanans will make sure that every Republican who voted against our kids today will have to answer for it back home."
Knowing the importance of special education funding for our public schools, HB 253 was blasted to the House Floor today by Rep. Moffie Funk (D-Helena). The funding provided by this bill would ensure all children have an equal opportunity to access a quality public education.
This bill was voted down by a party line vote 41-58.
