Matt Rosendale supported by anti-access Texas billionaires

HELENA -- East Coast developer and Republican State Auditor candidate Matt Rosendale has accepted campaign cash from out-of-state billionaires whose goal is to buy up land and lock Montanans out.

Rosendale has accepted multiple campaign contributions from Texas billionaires Dan and Farris Wilks. The Wilks brothers have been buying up land across the west – including nearly 300,000 acres in Montana – and locking out the public from being able to access their land for hunting and fishing as well as restricting farmers’ and ranchers’ water use.

“It’s disappointing, but not surprising, that Matt Rosendale has chosen to align himself with out-of-state billionaires who are trying to restrict access to our lands and take water rights away from Montana’s farming and ranching families,” Montana Democratic Party Executive Director Nancy Keenan said Thursday. “After all, Matt Rosendale has been outspoken in his support for transferring our cherished public lands and eliminating access for hunters and anglers. This is just one more example of Rosendale siding with wealthy out-of-state land owners and forgetting Montanans.”
