Matt Means: Tax Cuts for the Wealthy and a Scam That Blows Up Deficit
Helena – As the Senate gets closer to voting on a tax scam that will cut taxes for the wealthy and increase the country’s deficit by $1.5 trillion, Matt Rosendale finally came out in support of the toxic bill Wednesday afternoon, calling the legislation “no-nonsense tax reform that benefits all Americans.”
The Senate bill will add $1.5 trillion to the deficit, and will be paid for by hurting working people, students, and homeowners across Montana. A refresher for Rosendale – this bill will raise taxes for nearly 14 million middle-class Americans.
- Montanans making under $30,000 a year will see a tax hike in 2019.
- Montanans making under $40,000 a year will see a tax hike in 2021.
- Montanans making under $75,000 a year will see a tax hike in 2027.
And in addition to providing breaks to the wealthiest Montanans, the bill would gut Medicare by $25 billion.
“Maybe this deal would benefit wealthy real estate developer Matt Rosendale, but it doesn’t benefit most Montanans,” said Chris Meagher, spokesman for the Montana Democratic Party. “Once again, Matt Rosendale’s values are not in line with Montana, but with himself.”
