Gianforte: Too Busy to Show Up For Court, Not Too Busy to File for Re-Election
Helena – Greg Gianforte, facing an assault charge for bodyslamming another human being, was apparently too busy to show up in court this morning. One thing he wasn’t too busy for, however – filing for re-election.
He hasn’t even resolved his assault case. He hasn’t spoken to or apologized directly to his victim. He hasn’t explained why his campaign lied in their press statement following the incident. And he hasn’t even been sworn in as a member of Congress.
But, on Friday he filed paperwork to run again.
“Greg Gianforte isn’t focused on his legal troubles or apologizing to his assault victim, and he’s certainly not focused on the people of Montana,” said Chris Meagher, spokesman for the Montana Democratic Party. “Instead, as usual, he’s thinking about his next political move. Perhaps no one has told him the paperwork doesn’t matter – his decision to bodyslam another person was the beginning of the end of his political career.”
