Gianforte Caught Breaking His Own PAC Pledge at Washington DC Fundraiser
Greg Gianforte was caught attending PAC-money fundraiser in Washington DC. This comes weeks after Gianforte signed a "pledge" to not raise PAC funds, confirming his "pledge" was nothing more than a political gimmick.
"After about a month, New Jersey multimillionaire Greg Gianforte's political gimmick PAC pledge comes to an end,"said Jason Pitt, spokesperson for the Montana Democratic Party. "No one should be surprised that Montana's dark money kingpin has been misleading Montanans when it comes to raising money. Telling Montanans he won't accept PAC money, then going behind closed doors to raise PAC money in Washington DC while hoping no one finds out is the height of hypocrisy."
This news comes as Montanans are celebrating Sunshine Week and the bipartisan Disclose Act: the new Montana law championed by Governor Steve Bullock to bring more transparency to elections. Gianforte donated over a half a million dollars to several dark money groups in Montana that fought to kill the bipartisan Disclose Act.
While Gianforte was raising PAC money in Washington DC, Governor Bullock was celebrating St. Patrick's Day with Montanans in Butte and Anaconda.
