Gianforte Believes Protecting Public Access is "The Last Thing We Need"
As Steve Bullock announced a plan that would further protect and expand Montanans access to our public lands and streams, New Jersey multimillionaire Greg Gianforte said this plan is "the last thing we need."
"When New Jersey multimillionaire Greg Gianforte isn't suing to eliminate a public access easement near his property, he's attacking those working to expand access and the businesses and jobs that rely on it," said Jason Pitt, a spokesperson for the Montana Democratic Party. "We're thankful to have a Governor like Steve Bullock who is dedicated to upholding Montanans right to access our public lands and streams."
On Thursday, Steve Bullock joined members of Montana's outdoors community to roll out his plans to expand and protect public access to public lands and waters throughout Montana.
In addition to Gianforte calling Steve Bullock's public access plan "the last thing we need," Gianforte also filed suit to eliminate a public access easement near his property, and donated to the Property and Environment Research Center (PERC), that works to undo Montana's Stream Access laws.
