Gianforte and the Montana GOP Block Equal Pay Progress
Today Governor Steve Bullock spoke to the Equal Pay for Equal Work Task Force. This task force was created by the Governor in 2013 to develop solutions to close the gender pay gap in Montana.
But while Governor Bullock has fought to address the gender pay gap, New Jersey multimillionaire Greg Gianforte and reckless Republican legislators have blocked progress every step of the way.
For years Gianforte supported a D.C. based group that fought against equal pay legislation. Gianforte has also donated to legislators that voted against the Montana Paycheck Fairness Act. Including Matt Rosendale and Elsie Arntzen, who voted against the critical equal pay legislation.
"It's high time Greg Gianforte and Montana Republicans stop standing in the way of progress, and support equal pay for equal work," said Nancy Keenan, Executive Director for the Montana Democratic Party. "Women in Montana are thankful for Governor Bullock for making equal pay a priority. We simply can't afford Gianforte and the Montana GOP's out-the-mainstream agenda that put their own politics ahead of the values of our state."
The Paycheck Fairness Act would have provided wage transparency and helped close the gender pay gap in Montana.
