Congressman Zinke brings out-of-touch Congressman Gowdy to Montana

This week Congressman Ryan Zinke has brought Congressman Trey Gowdy to Montana to campaign for the Republican’s re-election effort, which highlights just how out-of-touch Zinke is with Montanans.

The South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy is simply a DC insider who …

Has voted against public lands

  • Gowdy voted against an amendment that would prohibit the use of funds to pursue any additional legal ways to transfer Federal lands to private owners in contravention of existing law. The League of Conservation Voters said of this vote "any effort to transfer national public lands to states would inevitably result in states selling off our public lands." Supports privatizing social security, calling it a “legalized Ponzi scheme”

  • “If you are counting on Social Security as it currently exists, you won’t have it. Because it’s unsustainable,” he said. [, 10/25/10

Doesn't support a woman's right to make her own healthcare decisions

  •  In September 2010, Gowdy was endorsed by the National Right to Life Committee and received a 100 percent rating from the South Carolina Citizens for Life. [Trey Gowdy for Congress, 9/14/10]

“It’s particularly troubling that Congressman Zinke, who only has a 3 percent approval rating from the League of Conservation Voters, would bring a Republican with a 0 percent rating from the LCV to stump for him in the Big Sky State,” said Nancy Keenan, executive director for the Montana Democratic Party. “It just goes to show you how disconnected Congressman Zinke is from Montanans and the values we uphold.”
