Zinke Ducking Questions about His Ethical Lapses
Zinke Declining to Participate in Billings, Great Falls and Helena Debates
(Helena, MT) – Montanans are not getting the answers they deserve from former SOFA PAC chairman Ryan Zinke as he continues to decline participating in debates around Montana.
Montanans are demanding answers regarding Zinke’s multiple ethical lapses ranging from possible illegal coordination with the super PAC he founded to misuse of taxpayer dollars for personal travel.
Although Zinke is ducking questions, the facts of the matter remain: Zinke will abuse power whenever given the opportunity.
Zinke’s campaign has been dogged with allegations of illegal coordination between SOFA PAC and Ryan Zinke. The Associated Press reported that Zinke “is benefiting from a political action committee he created.” The Campaign Legal Center filed a complaint with the FEC complaints alleging Zinke and SOFA PAC coordinated photographs used in SOFA PAC advertising. The Montana Democratic Party filed a second complaint alleging that Zinke and SOFA PAC shared a research consultant in direct violation of federal election law.
Zinke has also been questioned on his misuse of taxpayer dollars for personal travel. Zinke admitted to the misuse of funds, but has yet to clear the air as to the extend of the wrong-doing. Zinke chose to release cherry-picked records of his military service, but has yet to answer questions directly about his misuse of taxpayer dollars.
“Ryan Zinke has proven time and again that he lacks the integrity to serve as Montana’s lone congressman. It’s time for Zinke to address the issues head on and be open, honest and transparent with Montanans,” said Bryan Watt, spokesperson for the Montana Democratic Party.
