Unethical Flip-Flopper: A rough week for Ryan Zinke

U.S. House Candidate Faces more Allegations of Illegal Campaign Coordination, Flip-Flops on a Woman’s Right to Choose

(Helena, MT) –Montanans are continuing to demand a straight answer from Zinke about where he stands on a woman’s right to choose. In Missoula last night, several women protested Zinke, demanding a clear answer.

The protest is another incident in a long series of events calling into question Ryan Zinke’s integrity on a woman’s right to choose.

Three former chairmen of the Montana Republican Party and a prominent pro-life group called into question Zinke’s position on a woman’s right to choose. In 2009, Zinke received a score of 65 from NARAL, but has swiftly moved to his new pro-life stance stating that he is “100% pro-life”.

The three former Montana Republican Party chairmen, which include State Sen. John Brenden of Scobey, former U.S. Rep. Rick Hill and former gubernatorial candidate Ken Miller, also said that Zinke was unelectable because of his wishy-washy stance on abortion rights.

But that’s not the only reason they think he is unelectable: his unethical and potentially illegal campaign violations.

Zinke has had ethical troubles long before his campaign began. Zinke left the military under suspicious circumstances including allegations that he had misused funds in his travels back to Montana.

Zinke has most recently come under fire for his misuse of the Navy SEALS’ insignia to boost his campaign.

Zinke’s biggest ethical lapse is also potentially illegal. Zinke has faced numerous allegations that he illegally coordinated with the super PAC he founded – Special Operations for America.  Most recently, The Huffington Post uncovered further evidence that Zinke had illegally coordinated with SOFA PAC.

Zinke and SOFA PAC had used and paid the same researcher in November 2013. In addition, SOFA PAC rented a home owned by Zinke - located directly across the street from Zinke’s primary residence – while SOFA was spending money on Zinke’s behalf.

“Ryan Zinke refuses to give a straight answer on a woman’s right to choose. He won’t answer questions about his unethical and personal ties to dark money. Ryan Zinke will say and do anything to get elected, but doesn’t expect to be held accountable,” said Andrea Marcoccio, executive director of the Montana Democratic Party. “It’s clear that Ryan Zinke lacks the character and integrity to serve Montanans.”
