SILENCE: Ryan Zinke Yet to Clear up Ethical Questions on Abusing Taxpayer Dollars

As ethical lapses pile up, Montanans deserve answers from Zinke

(Helena, MT) – More that two weeks have passed and former Special Operations for America PAC chairman Ryan Zinke has yet to answer questions regarding allegations that he misused taxpayer money for personal travel. The Montana Democratic Party called on Zinke to release his full military records in order to clear the record.

The allegations stem from two sources: a 2012 report and a recent letter from Navy SEAL captain Larry Baily. Both sources outline Zinke’s use of taxpayer dollars for personal travel.

“Montanans expect and deserve transparency. When someone asks for the public’s trust, they should also honor the public’s right to know. We hope that Ryan Zinke sees releasing his military records as an opportunity to level with Montanans and set the record straight,” said Bryan Watt, spokesperson for the Montana Democratic Party.

The incident of misusing taxpayer dollars is not the first time Zinke has faced ethical questions. Zinke faces multiple FEC complaints over alleged illegal in-kind contributions and coordination between Zinke and SOFA PAC, a super PAC he created in 2012 to support Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign.

SOFA PAC spent $200,000 in support of Zinke’s primary campaign and nearly $50,000 in attack ads on one of his top challengers, Matt Rosendale of Glendive.
