Kim Gillan Earns Spot on DCCC¹s Competitive Races Red-to-Blue Program

Big news from the Gillan campaign: Kim has been moved up to top-tier "Red to Blue" status by the DCCC.  See their release below:

Billings, Mont. -- Billings State Senator and Democratic Nominee for Congress Kim Gillan today has earned a spot on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s (DCCC) highly competitive Red-to-Blue program.  Kim, running an aggressive campaign for Montana’s open U.S. House seat, has surpassed demanding fundraising, organizing and infrastructure goals while demonstrating her problem solving record to Montana’s voters.  "Kim Gillan is the kind of problem solver from Montana that we can use in Congress,” said DCCC Chairman Rep. Steve Israel.  “Kim is running a solid campaign with incredible grassroots energy that has put this race on the map.  She is tough, smart and can get things done for her state while protecting Medicare and Social Security, and standing up for women's health."

“I am honored that so many people across Montana have joined my campaign to create jobs, protect Medicare and Social Security and give the U.S. House a new dose of Montana values,” said Kim.  “I am a proven problem solver and I want to represent Montana in the U.S. House to get things done.  With today’s announcement, I am confident we will have the support and momentum it takes to win for Montanans in November.”

Last week, Public Policy Polling said that this race “looks like a toss up,” as Kim closed the gap with her opponent to within the three-point margin of error.  “This race could go either way as candidate become better known in the final eight weeks,” the polling firm continued.  Full results of the poll can be found here: http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2012/09/tester-holds-small-lead-in-montana.html

The DCCC’s Red-to-Blue program highlights top Democratic campaigns across the country, and offers them financial, communications, grassroots, and strategic support.
