Montana GOP Endorses Invasion of Privacy in Revised Platform

HELENA---The month of July has not been kind to the Montana Republican Party and its leaders. Coming off of their state convention in mid-June, Republicans were left with a platform that included language calling homosexuality illegal:

"We support the clear will of the people of Montana expressed by legislation to keep homosexual acts illegal."  (http://www.mtgop.org/platform.aspx)

At a recent gathering, Rep. Denny Rehberg was asked about the issue:

Tester's small business workshop online

Video highlights from Sen. Jon Tester's small-business opportunity workshop, along with other resources, have been posted on Tester's website,tester.senate.gov/workshop.

Tester's workshop, held last Friday in Kalispell, included nearly 350 Montanans; industry leaders such as Facebook, Google and Microsoft; and several successful Montana entrepreneurs and angel investors, according to a statement from Tester, D-Mon.

"For folks who couldn't make it to the workshop, now they've got a chance to log on and see what they missed," Tester said. "It was a productive, informative event that put new tools in the hands of our small businesses."

The workshop focused on entrepreneurship, access to capital and online marketing. It was streamed live on the Internet. Similar events were held in Great Falls, Bozeman and Billings over the past year.

MARTIN KIDSTON HIRED AS NEW MDP COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

(Helena) --- Gearing up for the November elections and setting its sights on 2012, the Montana Democratic Party has hired reporter and Marine Corps veteran Martin Kidston to lead its communications team.  Kidston will work from Helena and begins next week.

A graduate of the University of Montana in Missoula, Kidston has spent the last 11 years at the Helena Independent Record. His most recent beats included the Montana military and the northern U.S. border.

“I’m excited to be a part of the Democratic Party,” Kidston said Tuesday. “I look forward to sharing the Party's message and working hard to improve the lives of everyday Montanans.  I’ve seen the Party’s accomplishments first-hand and I’m eager to help build on its successes across the state.”

Help Us Stop Rehberg's Personal Bailout

Montana Rep. Denny Rehberg is suing the City of Billings, MT, and the Billings Fire Department for damages for damages sustained in a 2008 forest fire.  The Rehbergs are claiming damages for the loss of trees and ground cover in an area they intended to (surprise!) develop into a 1,100 acre subdivision.

Rep. Rehberg (already valued at $63 million) is using the forest fire as an excuse for a personal taxpayer bailout!
